The Dell™ PowerVault™ NX3500 adds network-attached storage (NAS) capability to PowerVault MD32x0i and MD36x0i iSCSI deployments to help provide an affordable unified storage solution with iSCSI, CIFS and NFS access to block and file data. With unified storage, your PowerVault system stores block and file data on a single platform, improving productivity and streamlining your IT infrastructure.
Managing multiple file servers and namespaces can consume your IT resources. The NX3500 uses the Dell Fluid File System (FluidFS) to optimize file access performance and hardware utilization while eliminating capacity constraints. It presents a single file-system namespace through a virtual IP address, regardless of cluster size, and it enables you to expand a single file system up to the capacity of the PowerVault MD deployment (maximum of 192TB raw storage).
The PowerVault NX3500 features an easy, wizard-based NAS configuration utility for initial setup. A Web-based user interface, NAS Manager, conveniently enables you to configure NAS storage, create and modify volumes and shares, and monitor performance. The NAS Manager also lets you set up alerts, snapshots, quotas, and replication, and supports NDMP backup.
