Ocarina Networks is now owned by Dell and has become a cornerstone technology of the Dell Storage Fluid Data Architecture. The first Dell product employing Ocarina Networks technology is the Dell DR4000, a data protection appliance that features unique deduplication and compression capabilities that can reduce the amount of backup data that is stored and replicated by a 15-1 ratio.
When used in conjunction with selected backup software, the DR4000 backup appliance forms a strong foundation for protecting all Dell storage products, including EqualLogic and Compellent as well as non-Dell storage systems. In short, the DR4000 changes the economics of disk-based protection by trimming storage costs, mitigating risk in data protection, and reducing complexity in the infrastructure.
